Bio-Corrosion Products

Bio-Corrosion Inhibitor™ (BCI™) & Bio-Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor™ (BVCI™) Products

BCI™ and BVCI™ products are formulated to replace and outperform many petroleum-based products. These products contain no heavy metals, or barium, and are formulated with biobased oils (Stabilized HOBS)/biobased solvents ensuring a safer work environment.

Additive composition, viscosities, and surface tension of the BCI™ products can be modified for special customers' needs. In many applications, the surface tension and viscosity specifications are duplicated to petroleum products with less volatile biobased oils/biobased solvents that provide a more fire resistant biobased product. The additive composition and surface tension of the products can be modified for use in penetrating applications, wire rope, chain and cable lubricants, metal working, fabricating, assembly oils, forming oils, mold release, quench oils, heat transfer oils, slushing oils, acid fume rust preventatives, corrosion inhibiting preservative formulas, etc. to protect ferrous and nonferrous metals. The BCI™ formulas can also be more volatile, allowing biobased carrier(s) to dissipate, leaving corrosion inhibitors and/or anti-wear-extreme pressure additives to remain on the surface of the metal parts, preventing wear and corrosion.

With BVCI™ products, ultra thin, highly protective films can be applied. Film thickness of 0.02 mils or less have been tested in the ASTM D-1748 Humidity Cabinet on polished cold rolled steel panels and test results from 20 to 60 days before failure are typical for these ultra-thin films. The volatile corrosion inhibitor formulas can be used to carry corrosion inhibitors into the air, releasing the corrosion inhibiting compounds on metal surfaces, preventing corrosion. This is highly effective when added to packaging or sealed containers where the corrosion inhibition can remain as a volatile corrosion inhibitor for a longer period, protecting metal parts. The formula allows the corrosion inhibitors to penetrate into close tolerance areas, preventing corrosion which allows for easier cleaning and/or paint preparation.

Adjusting these formulas to the application will prevent unnecessary waste, energy, and added expenses. Most of these products can be applied by dipping, spraying, or brushing.

Bio-Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors (BVCI Ultra Thin Film)

BVCI™s are outstanding water displacing, non-staining rust preventatives. BVCI™s will rapidly separate water displaced from metal surfaces after machining operations or after alkali cleaning. Ultra thin, highly protective films can be applied easily by dipping, spraying, or brushing. These ultra thin films are effective in the protection of ferrous and non-ferrous metals from atmospheric corrosion even under conditions of high humidity. When BVCI™s are agitated vigorously with water or alkaline solutions, the water will separate completely and rapidly. (ASTM D-445 2 cSt to 7 cSt viscosity range- Non Flammable Flash Points).

Bio-Acid Fume Rust Preventative Fluids

The Bio-Acid Fume Rust Preventative Fluid is a Bio-Corrosion Inhibitor™ (BCI™) product that provides a corrosion inhibiting, waxy film that is especially effective in protecting ferrous metals in salt and acid fume (hydrochloric acid) environments and against high humidity. It is non-staining and water displacing and is also effective on galvanized steel. In addition to corrosion protection, this product is a non-chlorinated metal working fluid that provides extreme pressure, anti-wear, and lubricity performance in heavy duty stamping and drawing applications. This is an excellent BCI™ product that can be used in many industrial and commercial applications where corrosion inhibiting, waxy films are beneficial.

BioBased products are ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE lubricants that are formulated from renewable agricultural plant resources. BioBased products have exceptional benefits over petroleum-based lubricants because there is no direct danger of polluting the air, water, soil, or work environment through the loss of the lubricant. Other advantages include: biobased, biodegradable, renewable, low toxicity, no hazardous volatile organic compounds (VOC), more fire resistant, safer, EPA and ISO 14000 compliant and high OSHA and worker acceptance.
